MUSIC

"Free to Worship '09," a Christian music festival featuring Addison Road and 10 local Christian bands, will be Sept. 19 at the Clark County Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. Doors open at 1 p.m. The festival also will feature family entertainment and food. Tickets are $5 through iTickets.com. Children younger than 12 are admitted free. Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas (www.freetoworshiplv.com).

Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 8601 Del Webb Blvd., will present the concert "Earth Songs," featuring soprano Joan Sobel, accompanied by Laurence Sobel, at 3 p.m. Sept. 27 (341-7800).

EVENTS

Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St., is celebrating its 55th anniversary through Sunday. There will be an anniversary banquet at 6 p.m. today at Sun City Aliante Banquet Hall, 7390 Aliante Parkway. Tickets are $25. The celebration will end with services at 8 a.m. and an extended 11 a.m. service Sunday with the Rev. W. James Smith of Calvary Baptist Church in San Diego (647-3071).

Wellspring Church of All Nations, 4870 Janell Drive, will have an Equipping Summit with the Rev. Todd Bailey at 10 a.m. Sept. 19 and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept 20 (631-5027).

SERVICES

B'nai Israel Jewish Fellowship will present High Holy Days services with Rosh Hashana at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Sept. 19, followed by Yom Kippur at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and 10 a.m. Sept. 28. Rabbi Mel Hecht will officiate and the cantorial soloist will be David Averbach. The services are free and membership is not required. For reservations and location, call 523-1818.

The Bikolnon Association of Las Vegas will have a novena in honor of Our Lady of Penafrancia at 4 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 20 at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 220 N. 14th St. (657-8514).

MEETINGS

Reformation Lutheran Church, 580 E. St. Louis Ave., will have a community forum on health care reform with Barry Gold from AARP at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Coffee and dessert will be provided. Reservations are needed (732-2052).

CLASSES

The Stillpoint Center for Spiritual Development, 8072 W. Sahara Ave., will present the discussion "Igniting Your Spirit of Resilience One Book at a Time" with Andrea Goeglein at 7 p.m. Tuesday. A freewill donation will be accepted. On Sept. 19, the center will offer a discussion on "Dreams: the Voice of Wisdom" featuring Cathy Pagano at 9:30 a.m. The fee is $30. Las Vegas LDS Temple decision challenged in court

A group has asked a court to review the Las Vegas City Council’s decision to approve a controversial proposal to build an LDS temple near Lone Mountain.
