Review-Journal site offers tips for Losers

Members of the Las Vegas Losers -- and Review-Journal readers who aren't members of the newspaper-sponsored group -- can get information on weight-loss issues at the Web site www.reviewjournal.com/living/lasvegaslosers. There, they will find links to Sally Squires' Lean Plate Club, and The Weighting Game, a blog by Janet Murphy, a Losers member who is with reviewjournal.com, plus previous related stories.

A new feature of the site is a message board set up for Losers members and the general community, to exchange tips and other information on weight loss and fitness as well as seek or give support. Users must register before posting on the message board -- although the posts can be read without registering. To register, go to www.reviewjournal.com/community/eforums.

Thirty-one members of the Las Vegas Losers attended the April weigh-in at the Las Vegas Athletic Clubs. They weighed a total of 7,009 pounds and lost 41 pounds in the previous month, 304 pounds since the program began in January.

The top three Losers this month -- by percentage of weight lost -- are Leslie Yowell, Melina Camey and Nancy Kinder. Yowell, who lost 11 pounds in the past month, or 4.6 percent of her body weight, is on the HMR (Health Management Resources) Program, a medically supervised weight-loss program. Her prize is a resistance-cord workout kit. Camey has lost the most weight since the program started, with 26 pounds, or 12.2 percent of her body weight.

Other members of the program who recorded a weight loss this month were Failyn Brooks, Dee Clarke, Glenn Dunkerley, Rita Dunkerley, Laura Friedlander, Barbara Godat, Anna Maria Kruizinga, Janet Murphy, John O'Connor, Rafaella Passariello, Jerry Socea, Marilyn Taylor, Marcus Teal, Carol Wagers and Christine Zerkich.
