Nevada is among the top places for sunrise and sunset photos — MAP
Where would one need to travel in order to catch the best view of a sunrise or a sunset?
Modernize looked over 2,515,334 Instagram posts over the last six months of 2015 with the hashtags #sunrise and #sunset to discover where people are sharing from most often.
Nevada placed in fourth as the most-popular state for sunrise posts with 13.2 photos per 10,000 people. The analysis found Lovelock (a nearby location to Burning Man Festival) among the top spots across the U.S., with 932 sunrise photos — more than the Grand Canyon, which had 884.
Sunsets in Nevada were more popular, with 15.6 sunset photos per 10,000 residents. Breaking that down more, Las Vegas claimed the top spot in Nevada for sunsets.
The results showed that cities scattered throughout Nevada, Arizona and along the coast of California shared more sunset photos than they do sunrises. Modernize attributed this to the sun setting in the West, where these states "are guaranteed some of the best sunset views in the country."
By country, the United States, Russia, Brazil, Turkey and Germany all share considerably more sunset than sunrise pictures.
