Armed man taken into custody after holing up for four hours in east Las Vegas trailer park

A man armed with a handgun surrendered to police late Saturday night after locking himself in his east valley mobile home for about four hours.

The Metropolitan Police Department was called out to the trailer two times Saturday, Metro Lt. Grant Rogers said.

The Metro officers were first called out to the Valley Vista mobile home park at 3001 Cabana Drive, near East Desert Inn Road and East Vegas Valley Drive,

at 2:35 p.m. for reports that a man had pistol-whipped a neighbor, police said.

The victim suffered broken teeth from the incident, but wasn’t transported to an area hospital, Rogers said.

By 6 p.m., officers were called back out to the same mobile home. Witnesses reported the man pistol-whipped another neighbor, who did not suffer any injuries, Rogers said.

The armed man barricaded himself in his trailer when officers arrived, Rogers said. Metro’s SWAT team worked for nearly four hours to get the man out of the trailer.

He was taken into custody at 10:15 p.m., Rogers said.
