Fire damages 5 Las Vegas houses under construction

Updated September 20, 2017 - 6:15 am

Clark County fire crews battled a blaze Wednesday morning in a southeast valley neighborhood that’s under construction.

The fire was called in just after 3 a.m. in the 5400 block of Montgomery View Lane, near Russell Road and Hollywood Boulevard, according to Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Buchanan.

Firefighters arriving at the scene found smoke and flames coming from five wood-frame structures that were under construction in the residential development, he said.

About 3:30 a.m., firefighters at the scene were hosing down the partially constructed homes. Buchanan said the fire was extinguished within minutes.

No injuries were reported, he said, and the cost of damage has not yet been estimated.

The fire is under investigation.
