A 43-year-old motorcyclist was hospitalized Wednesday after a crash in the east Las Vegas Valley.
The motorcyclist collided with another vehicle about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday near Flamingo Road and Cabana Drive, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ken Romane said.
Before the wreck, the motorcyclist had been traveling east on Flamingo when he changed lanes, Romane said. Just as he did, the sedan in front of him also changed lanes, causing the motorcycle to sideswipe the car.
The sideswipe shot the motorcycle across the road, where he struck a metal guardrail. The rider was ejected over the motorcycle and into a chain-link fence.
He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s trauma unit. As of 10:30 p.m., the man was in serious condition.
Police incorrectly reported Wednesday evening that the motorcyclist had died, but the department corrected that statement shortly afterward.
