Pedestrian struck by vehicle in east Las Vegas dies
A pedestrian has died after a crash Friday in the east valley, Las Vegas police said.
The Metropolitan Police Department said the vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash happened just before 6 p.m. at Boulder Highway and South Nellis Boulevard.
The pedestrian, a 64-year-old Las Vegas man, was crossing Boulder Highway when he was struck by a 2002 Toyota Corolla that was heading north. He was not in a crosswalk, according to a release.
The man was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died, police said.
The driver of the car remained at the scene, Metropolitan Police Lt. Patricia Cervantes said.
The driver, a 55-year-old Las Vegas woman, showed no signs of impairment, the release said.
The death marked the 114th traffic related fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction in 2017.
The collision remains under investigation, and the coroner’s office will release the name of the deceased man once family is notified.
