BUY GROCERIES TODAY, HELP STUDENTS

Whole Foods Market, 8855 W. Charleston Blvd., plans to donate 5 percent of its net sales from today to the Public Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports public schools in Clark County. Representatives from the PEF plan to be at the store to provide more information.

ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN STUDENTS TO HOST EXHIBITION DOWNTOWN

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Architecture plans to host its inaugural ARTchitecture event from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the atrium of Building A at the Las Vegas Design Center at the World Market Center, 455 S. Grand Central Parkway. The event is set to feature fashion, photography and art designs from UNLV students.

Proceeds will go to scholarships for local high school seniors to pursue architecture and design degrees at UNLV.

The event is free and open to the public.

PROGRAM OF ACADEMIC EXCHANGE SEEKS HOST FAMILIES FOR STUDENTS

The Program of Academic Exchange, or PAX, is accepting applications for host families for the 2012-13 school year for its foreign exchange student program.

Hosts are expected to provide a room, food and an environment in which to study.

Exchange students are fully insured and are responsible for their own spending money.

High school exchange students come from more than 40 countries.

NEVADA PTA TO HOST ANNUAL CONVENTION

The Nevada PTA's 72nd annual convention is scheduled Thursday through Saturday at Texas Station, 2101 Texas Star Lane in North Las Vegas. Any local PTA members are welcome to attend the workshops, presentations and banquet, and vote on Nevada PTA bylaws and amendments.

UNLV TO HOST WORKSHOPS TO HELP SMALL-BUSINESS OWNERS

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas has workshops scheduled to help teach small business owners what resources are available at UNLV libraries and how to use them effectively.

The Business by the Book workshop series is a four-part program that started April 11. The first workshop was Demystifying Your Customer: Market Research Made Easy. Future workshops are Getting to Know Your Customer, scheduled for June 13; Marketing Resources Revealed, scheduled for Aug. 15; and Social Media Socialized, scheduled for Oct. 10.

NORTHWEST CAREER AND TECHNICAL ACADEMY TO HOST WALK FOR TEACHERS

Northwest Career and Technical Academy, 8200 W. Tropical Parkway, plans to host a 3K and 5K walk and run at 9 a.m. May 19. The Chalk Walk was organized as a way for teachers, students and other community members to honor inspirational educators. Proceeds will fund scholarships for high school seniors who plan to major in education. Registration is $10 if done by May 8 and includes a T-shirt.

DARNELL ELEMENTARY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN

Darnell Elementary School, 9480 W. Tropical Parkway, is accepting applications for its full-day, tuition-based kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year. The full-day program is set to run from 9 a.m. to 3:21 p.m. Monday through Friday and costs $375 per month. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30.

SCOTT ELEMENTARY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR FULL-DAY KINDERGARTEN

Scott Elementary School, 5700 N. Bruce St., is accepting applications for its full-day, tuition-based kindergarten for the 2012-13 school year. The program runs Monday through Friday and costs $375 per month. A $100 non-refundable payment by cashier's check or money order is required. Children must be 5 years old by Sept. 30.

ADELSON EDUCATIONAL CAMPUS ADDS SECOND GRADE

The Dr. Miriam & Sheldon G. Adelson Educational Campus will add second grade to its Henderson campus, 1940 Paseo Verde Parkway, beginning this fall. Second-graders will join students in kindergarten and first grade in the David L. Simon Wing of the Midbar Kodesh Temple.

The Adelson campus in Summerlin, 9700 W. Hillpointe Road, is a Jewish educational center serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

REGIS UNIVERSITY'S HENDERSON CAMPUS TO CLOSE IN AUGUST

The Regis University College for Professional Studies, 1401 N. Green Valley Parway, Suite 100, announced it will close its Henderson campus Aug. 31 because of consistent low enrollment. The campus opened in 1999 and served nearly 2,500 students. There were 169 students enrolled at the Henderson campus last year.

Regis University said it will implement a process to ensure that students will be able to complete the academic requirements necessary to graduate and provide assistance with transfers.

SCHOLARSHIP WORKSHOP AVAILABLE ONLINE

The Cultural Diversity Foundation is offering an online scholarship workshop class through December for students in high school and college. The class is $25 or $50, depending on income. To register, visit cdfnv.org/onlineworkshops.
