STUDENT LEADER PROGRAM DEADLINE IS FRIDAY

Bank of America's Neighborhood Excellence Initiative is accepting applications for its 2013 Student Leader Program until Friday. The program includes a weeklong summit in Washington, D.C., and an eight-week paid summer internship at a local nonprofit. Student Leaders will experience how nonprofits, businesses and government can cooperate to improve communities and connect with other community-minded students. NV ENERGY TO HOST FREE SCHOLARSHIP WORKSHOP SATURDAY

NV Energy, 6226 W. Sahara Ave., has a free workshop scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday to teach high school students how to apply for college scholarships, including NV Energy's Powerful Partnerships Scholarship Program. The Public Education Foundation is co-sponsoring the workshop.

THE DELTA ACADEMY TO HOST OPEN HOUSE

The Delta Academy, 4075 N. Rancho Drive, plans to host an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 29 for prospective students and parents to meet staff members and tour the school. Delta is a public charter school opened in 2007 and serves grades seven through 12. It also offers online courses.

MAGNET SCHOOL APPLICATIONS BEING ACCEPTED through feb. 4

Applications to enroll at the Clark County School District's magnet and career and technical academy campuses are due Feb. 4. The district has six elementary schools, six middle schools and 13 high schools with magnet and CTA programs.

CLARK COUNTY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Clark County's paid internship program, Summer Business Institute, is accepting applications through Feb. 8 from current high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. The program will place 120 students at more than 80 area businesses in fields of law, medicine, architecture, education and communication.

The program is scheduled to run June 17 through Aug. 9. Students will be paid $8.25 and work eight-hour days Monday through Thursday. Students will also attend Friday seminars. The SBI program started in 1996.

FAMILY MUSIC CENTER TO HOST PAGEANT FOR GIRLS WITH DISABILITIES

The Twinkle Toez Foundation's second annual Miss Twinkle Toez Pageant is scheduled at 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Family Music Center, 8125 W. Sahara Ave. The nonprofit organization provides art scholarships to students with disabilities.

The pageant is open to girls 6 or older with physical or mental disabilities. All contestants receive a crown, a sash and other prizes.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 or younger. Infants 3 or younger are admitted free. Tickets will be available at the door the day of the event.
