The Clark County School District on Friday announced new bell times for 139 schools next year as part of a reorganization to save the district $10 million.
The Clark County School Board on Wednesday approved a $1.8 billion tentative budget that includes cuts to help bridge an anticipated $407 million shortfall. It eliminates about 1,834 jobs and has parents and students concerned about teacher layoffs and cuts in drama, sports and other extracurricular activities.
The Clark County School Board was within the law to authorize a privately funded housing allowance for new Superintendent Dwight Jones, according to the Nevada Commission on Ethics. But it was “poor policy” and contrary to the intent of state prohibitions against giving gifts to public officials, the commission said.
