School Board OKs application for candidates

The Clark County School Board on Thursday approved the application for the candidates interested in filling the District E seat soon to be vacated by Board President Terri Janison.

Thursday was the last board meeting for Janison, who is leaving the board in January to work as a communications director for Gov.-elect Brian Sandoval.

Janison, who was elected in 2008, has two years of her term remaining. The position pays an annual stipend of $9,000. The board sets policy for the Clark County School District and supervises the superintendent.

Applicants have to reside in District E, or northwest Clark County. They will be asked if they or their spouses are employed by the government.

The position will be advertised in the newspaper with a Jan. 10 deadline for applications. The board plans to interview candidates on Jan. 20.
