Air quality advisory issued for county through Thursday

Because of a possible rise in smoke levels from Fourth of July fireworks and barbecues, Clark County on Tuesday issued an air quality advisory for today through Thursday.

Smoke from fireworks and grills contains small particles and pollutants that can aggravate people with conditions like asthma or bronchitis.

The county Department of Air Quality forecasts that on July 4, levels of smoke, soot and dust will be unhealthy for sensitive groups - those with respiratory diseases, seniors and children.

The Department of Air Quality will post an alert on its website if unhealthful levels occur.

The county issued a similar advisory last year.
