BMW hits two vehicles, causes death, then flees

Southbound Interstate 15 was closed at State Route 160 Tuesday morning after a pair of hit-and-run accidents, one of which was deadly.

Trooper Joseph Fackrell, a Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman, said the accidents occurred just after 2 a.m . The highway reopened to traffic about 8 a.m.

A BMW driven by a woman was traveling south of the Blue Diamond Road exit when it rear-ended a pickup.

The pickup veered off the side of the road and rolled, Fackrell said. The driver of the truck, a man, was taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries.

The driver of the BMW continued south, where she then rear-ended a sport utility vehicle, which also rolled.

The driver of the SUV, a woman, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was taken to UMC, where she was pronounced dead.

The BMW fled south. Police are still searching for the driver, Fackrell said.

In the northern part of the valley, another hit-and-run accident closed I-15 southbound traffic , about 20 miles outside of Las Vegas, Fackrell said.

A semi-truck dropped some gravel, causing a four-car accident.

There were no reported fatalities, but at least one man was airlifted to the hospital, he said.
