A 66-year-old California woman was killed Monday after she was struck by a vehicle.

Las Vegas police said the Hemet, Calif., woman, who was not identified, was attempting to cross Flamingo Road from north to south near Pearl Street when she was hit by a 2006 Dodge Durango, driven by Arch Doran, 49, of Las Vegas. The woman was not in a marked crosswalk, police said.

The woman was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

This was the first fatal accident in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.
