Car strikes kids in crosswalk, three injured in North Las Vegas

Three girls, two age 6 and one age 5, suffered life-threating injuries Friday night after a car struck them in a marked crosswalk on Camino Eldorado near Tropical Parkway in North Las Vegas.
Two of the children were transported in critical condition and the other in serious condition to the University Medical Center, North Las Vegas police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said. A 13-year-old sibling of one of the victims was uninjured. The crash happened about 6:45 p.m.
The children entered the crosswalk near Eldorado Park after a vehicle in the lane closest to them stopped. A 78-year-old woman in the outer lane did not stop, crashed into the children and continued driving several yards, Bedwell said.
The driver gave a voluntary blood draw at the jail, and police would not speculate what charges the woman might face.
"The children had the right of way, I can tell you that," Bedwell said.
