Downtown street closures planned for 7K GlowRun Sunday

Several downtown streets will be closed late Sunday afternoon and evening for Vegas 7K GlowRun, a costumed, music-infused footrace through the Fremont East Entertainment District that will be followed by a block party at the finish line.

Below are the expected closures, starting at 4 p.m.:

■ Las Vegas Boulevard between Carson and Hoover avenues.

■ Sixth Street between Carson and Hoover.

■ Seventh Street between Carson and Gass Avenue.

■ Eighth Street between Charleston Boulevard and Clark Avenue.

■ Ninth Street between Charleston and Fremont.

■ 10th Street between Charleston and Fremont.

■ 11th Street between Garces and Carson avenues.

The race starts at 7 p.m. at Las Vegas Boulevard and Carson and will end at Fremont and Eighth. All streets used for the race are expected to reopen at 9 p.m.

The race will be followed by a multiblock street party called AfterGlow, featuring bands Girl Talk and Capital Cities. Carson between Sixth and Seventh and Fremont between Las Vegas Boulevard and Sixth will be closed until midnight .

A portion of registration fees for the race, presented by Wendoh Media Cos. and Insomniac, will benefit Aid for AIDS of Nevada.
