The Silverado Steakhouse at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to celebrate National Filet Mignon Day by offering a specialty menu Aug. 11-15.

The three-course meal is $49. The first course is lobster bisque with cognac or wedge salad, followed by six filet mignon meal options: Rossini, a filet topped with duck liver, black truffle and maidera sauce, served with baked or mashed potatoes; the Alamo, a filet wrapped in bacon, seasoned with an applewood rub and barbecue sauce and served on top of crispy onion strings with corn fritters and molasses baked beans; Pittsburgh filet, a filet charred on the outside and rare on the inside, coated with a garlic pretzel crust and whole grain mustard sauce and served with a side of pommes pont neuf; trio of gourmet sliders, a variety of filet medallions on toasted brioche buns, served with baked or mashed potatoes; Carpet Bagger, a filet marinated in merlot reduction, stuffed with oysters and served with cottage fries; and Filet Calypso, a filet covered with sautéed shrimp and served on a pineapple crouton with a side of Caribbean rice and sautéed curried red peppers.

TRAVELING FOOD FESTIVAL COMING
TO LAS VEGAS SEPT. 27-28

The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America Local Flavor from Coast to Coast Traveling Food Festival is scheduled to stop in Las Vegas Sept. 27-28.

The event will showcase culinary all-stars and public events exploring the nation’s unique range of local cuisines.

Free culinary consumer events are set to kick off the weekend Sept. 27, with details to be announced, followed by an exclusive dining event at The Mirage at 8 p.m. Sept. 28. A poolside gala tasting and reception, A Taste of America, will be co-hosted by James Beard Award winner and Taste America All-Star Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto and host chef Christian Schmidt.

CULINARY LINEUP FOR OCTOBER FESTIVAL

The Life is Beautiful Festival has announced its lineup of culinary programming for the inaugural event set for Oct. 26-27 in downtown Las Vegas. More than 60 chefs and restaurants, 24 wineries and 24 breweries are expected to participate.

General admission will include access to The Culinary Village and The Alchemy Garden & Chefs on Stage. Other ticketed events that will not require a festival ticket include the Grills & Guitars kick-off party hosted by Blue Ribbon Restaurants, the Take a Stand charity soiree and an eight-course dinner hosted by Elizabeth Blau and Hubert Keller benefiting Three Square food bank and Communities in Schools.
