Dining Pick of the Week: Joey’s NY Pizza

PICK OF THE WEEK:
JOEY’S NY PIZZA

Mountain Dream Center, 11165 S. Eastern Ave. at Summit Grove Drive, 702-566-1500

Joey knows all about New York pizza. That’s because he’s from Brooklyn. He also knows about authentic Sicilian cooking, which he learned from his grandmother. So order a slice of his thin-crust pie along with some pasta and meatballs, and you’ll be a native New Yorker. Among the specialty pizzas are Grandma’s (sauce, mozzarella, basil), the White, Margherita and Garden made with broccoli, spinach, peppers and mushrooms. Featured entrees are served with a house salad and include baked ziti, fettuccini Alfredo with chicken, chicken parmigiana or pasta (penne, linguini, spaghetti) with garlic and oil or marinara sauce. Other specialties are the chicken and sausage roll and calzone. Popular heroes are eggplant, shrimp or meatball parmigiana, sausage, peppers and onions, and Joey’s Special, which is prosciutto, mozzarella, roasted peppers and olive oil. Appetizers include zucchini strips, fried ravioli, fried calamari and Caprese, fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and fresh basil. There is pasta fagioli, soup of the day, chicken wings and fingers and desserts such as New York cheesecake and tiramisu. Pizzas start at $11.99, and entrees begin at $7.99. Joey’s is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. — Jack Bulavsky
