Updated December 13, 2024 - 8:56 pm

An outage that affected more than 7,500 NV Energy customers near downtown Las Vegas has been resolved.

An outage affecting 5,461 customers was reported at 4:42 p.m. and another affecting 2,061 customers was reported at 5:44 p.m.

They were centered near South Maryland Parkway and East Charleston Boulevard, according to the NV Energy outage website.

A balloon that came in contact with a transmission line was the cause of the outage, said an NV Energy spokeswoman.

Power was restored shortly before 7 p.m.
