Jordan Doctors, a freshman at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, was among 44 students worldwide chosen to conduct scientific research at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel.
Doctors participated in Technion's SciTech program -- a three-week program that allows students with a demonstrated interest and ability in science and technology to study.
SciTech gives students the chance to carry out research in a broad range of fields within engineering and science alongside Israel's top researchers.
Doctors worked on a project involving purifying the protein ACAA2 and testing its activity.
Doctors, a graduate of Coronado High School, is the son of Steven and Tiffany Doctors of Henderson.
Jessica A. Borja has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2009 graduate of Las Vegas High School, Borja is the daughter of Paul and Lucy Borja of Las Vegas.
Tyler A. Hill has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of Las Vegas High School, Hill is the son of Tammy Hill of Las Vegas.
James Barbeau has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.
A member of Troop 562, Barbeau helped install post and cable fences at the Desert National Wildlife Refuge at Corn Creek.
Barbeau enjoys dirt biking, shooting, hiking, hunting, fishing and camping.
He is the son of Dale and Carol Barbeau of Las Vegas.
Ryan Douglas Nielson has achieved Eagle Scout status in the Boy Scouts of America.
A member of Troop 469, Nielson helped transplant trees at the Opportunity Village Magical Forest.
He enjoys soccer, volleyball, hiking, anything outdoors and academics. Nielson is the son of Karl and Jill Nielson of Las Vegas.
Earl J. Pecson has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. A 2010 graduate of Chaparral High School, Pecson is the son of Lilia Pecson of Las Vegas.
Christopher Stone of North Las Vegas has received a scholarship covering full tuition costs at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.
The scholarship is called the Waldorf College Hero Behind the Hero Scholarship.
To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must be the spouse or child of active military or public safety personnel.
Stone, whose father serves in the military, is majoring in psychology.
Sarah M. Chelberg of Las Vegas was named to the dean's list for the spring 2011 semester at Idaho State University's Division of Health Sciences in Pocatello, Idaho.
