Joi A. Goynes, a 2011 graduate of Faith Lutheran Jr/Sr High School, maintained the level of Merit Scholar throughout high school.
Goynes was the 2008-09 3A state champion in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.
She is a member of the 2011 NIAA Academic State Champion Faith Lutheran girls track team and finished fifth in the 100-meter dash and third in the 200-meter dash at the 2011 NIAA Outdoor State Championship.
She was a four-year starter on the school's basketball team.
Goynes accepted an academic/athletic scholarship to Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, Calif., where she plans to join the track team.
She is the daughter of Lydia and Byron Goynes of Las Vegas.
Bryan D. Gines has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

He enjoys chess, golf, lacrosse , camping and reading in his free time.

Natasha James and Alyssa Wilson, both of Las Vegas, and Connor McIlveen of Henderson participated in a freshman service project at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind.
The project sent more than 500 students to 20 locations throughout Evansville to paint, clean and landscape at parks, community centers and other nonprofit organizations.
