Literary Las Vegas: Dan Lier & Mike Lindstrom

Henderson author Dan Lier has traveled the world as a business consultant, keynote speaker and success coach working alongside motivational gurus such as Tony Robbins. Along the way he found that people who built business empires weren't always successful in love.

He and his friend Mike Lindstrom interviewed thousands of men who shared their secrets in "Dan & Mike's Guide to Men: 10 Secrets Every Woman Should Know from Two Guys That Do."

In the book's introduction, the authors acknowledge this isn't the first relationship self-help book, and it won't be the last. But they insist their book is different because it's candid. "We shoot straight with relentless brutality, even stirring the consciousness of America with our aggressive yet professionally honest approach to aiding women and men in their quest for emotional and sexual Nirvana," they write.

The book sets forth three goals, to set the record straight about what really makes men tick, to empower women to understand how powerful they are in their relationships with men and to be a voice for men because they're willing to say what the vast majority of men are unwilling to.

With the book under their belts, the writing team has gone on to host Ask Dan & Mike parties for women of all ages, teens to seniors. Their teen talk titled "Setting the Standards with Boys and Yourself" is designed for girls just entering the world of dating. They've appeared on television shows, spoken at women's events and been featured on Howard Stern.

Lindstrom's wife, Monica, suggests women give the guys a chance.

"Take each idea they give you as a pair of shoes and try it on," she writes in a section titled Woman to Woman. "If it fits and you like it, then keep it and use it. If not, simply put it in the closet and wait for another day."

Excerpt from "Dan & Mike's Guide to Men: 10 Secrets Every Woman Should Know from Two Guys That Do"

By nature, man is judged on a daily basis. He's judged in society by what he does for a living, his car, and his lifestyle. With that being said, when a man meets a woman, of course he is going to present his best product or maybe present something that's not really who he is. Because letting her know that he is not successful or not on the fast-track to success could be a deal-breaker. This may not be true in reality, yet this is what he's thinking. So the man protects his thoughts, dreams, emotions, worries, and his concerns, because he wouldn't want to show any weakness to a woman, as in his mind, this is not how it is supposed to be. If you are dating a man right now, take a good look at his dad; that's who taught him how to be a man. If you haven't met his father, take a look at his circle of friends. You'll get a good feel for what's important to his crew.
