Valley Hospital, 620 Shadow Lane, recently completed a three-suite endoscopy department, concluding the final phase of a $26 million surgical services expansion and renovation. The project included an operating theater, pre- and post-operative units and waiting areas for patients.
Women's services renovation is under way, and an acute rehab inpatient program is expected to open late this year.
rainbow company youth theatre plans musical auditions, host workshop
The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre plans to hold auditions for "How I Became a Pirate" at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Roles are available for adults and young people age 9 or older. Comfortable clothing that allows for movement should be worn, and a prepared song is strongly recommended.
The show is scheduled to run June 3-12 at the Charleston Heights Arts Center, 800 S. Brush St. For more information, call 229-6553.
The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre also plans to host a spring break drama workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center.
The cost is $135 per student. A final staged presentation is planned from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 23.

afan to host 21st aids walk las vegas
Aid for AIDS of Nevada is scheduled to host the 21st annual AIDS Walk Las Vegas at 8 a.m. Sunday at the World Market Center, 495 S. Grand Central Parkway.
Early sign-ins are scheduled for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the AFAN headquarters, 701 Shadow Lane, Suite 130. Penn & Teller are set to serve as grand marshals for the 10th consecutive year.

ymcas to celebrate healthy kids day Saturday at three locations
The YMCA of Southern Nevada plans to host a free event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at all locations: Bill & Lillie Heinrich YMCA, 4141 Meadows Lane; Durango Hills Community Center YMCA, 3521 N. Durango Drive; and Centennial Hills Community Center YMCA, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive, during Healthy Kids Day -- the nation's largest health day for families.
The event is set to feature games, face painting, family entertainment, wellness screenings, a vendor fair, hands-only CPR training and demonstrations in everything from martial arts to Zumba.

Catch artist's cubism exhibit at west las vegas arts center
Artist Dayo Adelaja's "Cubism Juxtaposed" exhibit is scheduled to be on display from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through April 30, at the West Las Vegas Arts Center Community Gallery, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. The event is free and open to the public. The gallery is closed Sunday through Tuesday.
Adelaja is originally from Nigeria, but his murals and sculptures decorate public spaces in West Las Vegas.
