Edward Gonzalez of Las Vegas and Ajit Kundanani of North Las Vegas received the Agency Hands in the Community Award from The Allstate Foundation for their commitment to helping others in their area.

Gonzalez supported Clark County Public Education Foundation Inc., and Kundanani supported United Citizens Foundation Inc.

The two were honored with a $1,000 donation to the charitable organization with which they volunteer.

J.R. Starkus and Jessica Fesler, both of Las Vegas, are top 20 finalists in the Tommy Bahama Rumologist Search.

Drink-mixing styles range from island cool to professional to master mixologist.

The contest has a $50,000 grand prize.

The judging panel will narrow the field to five contestants. The winner is scheduled to be announced Thursday.

Philanthropists Bobby and Sandy Ellis donated $25,000 to Henderson Libraries to fund a teen studying and socializing area at the Green Valley Library.

In August, the Ellises donated a second $25,000 to the Henderson Libraries Foundation for its $1 for a Million Campaign.

The foundation's goal for 2011 is to raise $1 million through April 2012.

Las Vegas authors Georgia Hubley and Nila Wiley submitted stories to the Reader's Digest "Your Life ... The Reader's Digest Version" contest on Facebook.

Contest winners will receive a cash prize.

Hubley's story is called "Glimmer of Hope." Wiley wrote "Now, Mom is Famous Too."

Oscar and Carolyn Goodman are set to be honored at the 21st annual Child Advocacy Recognition Dinner on Oct. 22 at The Venetian, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The Court Appointed Special Advocate Foundation's mission is to support the needs of abused and neglected children in Clark County's foster care system by providing clothing, tutoring, school supplies, scholarships and more.

Tickets are $200 and can be purchased at casafoundationlv.org or by calling 588-2272. All proceeds benefit CASA Foundation's programs.

A silent auction and cocktail reception are planned to start the night, followed by a gourmet dinner and program.

George Molnar, a director of engineering, information technology and emergency response for Vegas PBS, has won the Cox Business Exemplary Award in the 2011 Vegas Inc. Top Tech Exec Awards.

Judged by executives of Cox Business, Molnar was honored for being a driving force in the Las Vegas technology industry, as well as for his commitment to community service and keeping residents informed and knowledgeable in the case of a natural disaster.
