50 TEEN JOB POSITIONS TO BE FILLED
BY CITY OF LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas plans to offer 50 valley teenagers ages 14 to 19 year-round employment beginning this summer through a $500,000 Workforce Investment Act grant.

Those interested in the positions must join the city's Batteries Included Teen Council and meet income guidelines. Teen Councils in the downtown area include those at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. J St.; the Las Vegas Municipal Swimming Pool, 431 W. Bonanza Road; the East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave.; and the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

100 DANCING DEALERS WANTED AT THE D

The D Las Vegas, 301 Fremont St., is slated to host auditions for 100 dancing dealers at 2 p.m. Friday in the hotel's ballroom.

Women auditioning will learn brief choreography before performing on the Third Street Stage at the Fremont Street Experience.

BOTTLED WATER AND SPARE CHANGE SOUGHT FOR AREA'S HOMELESS

HELP of Southern Nevada has launched its HELP2O campaign, designed to encourage people to donate bottled water and spare change for the homeless.

Donations will be accepted through August at Whole Foods Market, 6689 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

FREE BREAST AND CERVICAL SCREENINGS
OFFERED THROUGH SATURDAY

The FirstMed Health and Wellness Center, 3343 S. Eastern Ave., plans to offer free breast and cervical cancer screenings for uninsured or underinsured women 40 or older and mental health screenings for children 4 to 18.

The mental health screenings include a questionnaire parents must fill out for children 4 to 11, but those 12 to 18 must provide their own answers. These surveys are available until Saturday .

LOCAL NONPROFIT GROUPS COMPETE
IN CARS FOR GOOD PROGRAM

Las Vegas-based HELP of Southern Nevada and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas are among 500 nonprofit finalists in Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program, a philanthropic initiative in which the automaker is giving 100 cars to 100 nonprofit groups over the course of 100 days.

The two valley groups were selected as finalists from more than 4,000 applications nationwide.

Members of the public can vote for whichever nonprofit group they want. The one with the most votes at the end of each day will win one of six Toyota models. Runners-up will receive a $1,000 cash grant from Toyota.
