Southern Nevada Musical ARts Society invites singers to audition

The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society invites singers in the valley to perform with the Musical Arts Chorus in its upcoming 49th season. There are openings in all voice parts. A highlight of the new season will include a performance by the Musical Arts Chorus with renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli on Dec. 10 at the MGM Grand.

Chorus members also are scheduled to perform with the Las Vegas Philharmonic on March 24, 2012, at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. The music of John Rutter is slated to be featured in a concert by the Musical Arts Chorus and Orchestra at UNLV's Ham Hall on April 29, 2012. The Musical Arts Chorus also plans to highlight the music of Broadway during a concert at the College of Southern Nevada in spring 2012.

'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'
to open at las vegas little theatre

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels," based on the 1988 film by the same name, is scheduled to open Friday at the Las Vegas Little Theatre, 3920 Schiff Drive.

The show's premise focuses on two con men living on the French Riviera who unsuccessfully attempt to work together.

Shows are at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays through July 31.

Tickets are $25, with $5 off for LVLT season ticket holders.

Bob Dylan and band to stop at the Palms

Bob Dylan and his band are scheduled to play at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road.

'la cage' reopens at four queens

"An Evening at La Cage," which features female impersonators, celebrity look-a likes and tribute artists, is scheduled to reopen Friday at the Four Queens, 202 Fremont St.

The show closed at the Riviera two years ago but is re-emerging with a fresh touch, including star Jimmy Emerson. Emerson is an internationally known comedian and impressionist.

Show times are 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

CAROUSEL at The District to OFFER
FREE RIDES DURING SUMMER

The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2240 Village Walk Drive, announced that it is planning to give free rides on its carousel.

Normally, a ride costs $2 per guest.

The carousel features 32 animals and two chariot carts.

Summer hours are 3 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 3 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

THE DISTRICT ANNOUNCES JULY
MUSIC AND MOVIE LINEUP

The District at Green Valley Ranch, 2240 Village Walk Drive, is planning to host the Outdoor Picture Show, free movies at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Music on Main, free music from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The movies scheduled to be played are "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" on Friday and "Jumanji" on Saturday.

The bands scheduled to perform are David Maldanado Band on Friday and Lit Up Productions on Saturday.

LAKE LAS VEGAS REVEALS JULY LINEUP
FOR Jazz on the Lake CONCERTs

The Village Lake Las Vegas, 15 Costa di Lago, has announced its line up for its July Jazz on the Lake concert series.

From 7 to 10 p.m., people can enjoy free jazz on the lakeside lawn.

The schedule includes Mr. Hajee on Saturday , Release Allstars on July 23 and No Limit 9:23 on July 30.

Clark County MUSEUM EXHIBIT
COVERS EVOLUTION OF the OFFICE

Through Oct. 23, an exhibit called "From Carbon Paper to .pdf" is slated to be at the Clark County Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway.

The exhibit showcases 100 years of office evolution and how technology has changed from a quill pen and ink to computers.

Shakespeare classics

Classic Shakespeare works are planned to be shown in movie theaters this summer.

Each performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Village Square 18, 9400 W. Sahara Ave.

"Henry IV Part 1" is scheduled for Aug. 1, "Henry IV Part 2" for Aug. 18 and "Henry VIII" for Sept. 15.

Each includes a 20-minute historical perspective on the Globe Theatre and its reconstruction.
