Driver arrested on DUI charge after crash

Two people were taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries after a car crash on the southwest side of the valley Monday morning.

Police responded to Rainbow Boulevard and Hacienda Avenue just after 7 a.m. after getting reports of a flipped-over car.

Two people went to the hospital and the driver of one car was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, police said.

As of 8:30 a.m., the intersection was open but limited to one or two lanes in each direction while police investigate.
