Driver in Monday’s hit-and-run turns self in to police

Las Vegas police arrested a man in connection with Monday night’s hit-and-run accident that left an 11-year-old boy in serious condition.

Rodrigo Tomax was arrested around 2 a.m. Wednesday after Tomax, driver of the vehicle, and his passenger, Chamilla Cabada-Garcia, turned themselves in, police said.

Tomax, 25, was booked into the Clark Count Detention Center for failing to stop at the scene of the crash.

The accident happened just before 9:30 p.m. Monday when Tomax’s 1994 Honda Civic, westbound on Bonanza Road near Eastern Avenue, drove onto the sidewalk, striking the boy.
