Updated December 2, 2024 - 7:55 pm

A Seattle motorist died Monday afternoon when his pickup ran over him in the southern Las Vegas Valley, according to Las Vegas police.

The crash occurred about 12:34 p.m. in the 10400 block of South Maryland Parkway, just north of East Cactus Avenue, police said.

“Evidence at the scene and video surveillance indicate a 2006 Ford E250 pulled into 10430 S. Maryland Parkway,” a Metropolitan Police Department press release stated. “The driver exited the vehicle, failing to put it into park. The vehicle began reversing, rolling over the driver.”

The unidentified 71-year-old man victim was pronounced dead at University Medical Center.

His death was the 147th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the man as well as his cause and manner of death after relatives have been notified.
