Fire displaces Henderson family

A Henderson family was displaced Friday after escaping a fire in the garage of their two-story duplex shortly after 1 a.m.

Henderson firefighters were able to access the home on Spotted Eagle Street, near Boulder Highway and Equestrian Drive, and save two family pets.

The American Red Cross was called in to help the family find a temporary place to live. The neighboring home was not damaged.

Henderson firefighters believe that careless smoking habits led to the fire that caused about $50,000 damage to the home.
