Firefighters investigate fatal fire at residence in Las Vegas Valley

One person is dead following a fire in the northeast Las Vegas on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the intersection of East Monroe Avenue and North Betty Lane about 7:15 a.m. They found “moderate smoke” coming from a detached structure adjacent to a residence at 1401 N. Betty Lane, according to a statement from the Clark County Fire Department.

By 7:40 a.m., the fire was extinguished.

One person and one dog were found dead inside the building, the department said. The person who died will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

More than 15 firefighters were observed in front of the building Tuesday morning.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Tuesday morning, and the cost of damage to the building had not been estimated by the end of the day.
