Hearing delayed for mother charged in daughter’s death

An evidence hearing was delayed until next month for a Las Vegas mother who told police she fatally stabbed her 6-year-old daughter with scissors after the girl spoke "evil words" and laughed "in an evil voice."

Defense lawyer Andrea Luem said Friday that pushing back the preliminary hearing for 27-year-old Danielle Yvonne Slaughter until April 24 allows more time to review police reports of the March 11 slaying of Kyla Franks.

Slaughter faces a murder charge that could put her in prison for the rest of her life.

Luem says she expects an insanity defense.

Police say Slaughter was found naked and bloody, running through the streets near the home where her daughter's body was found.

She told police the blood was from the "lamb of God."
