Helldorado Days rodeo kicking up dirt all weekend

Las Vegas Elks Helldorado Days, which opened Wednesday and runs through Sunday, is at a new location this year, next to The Smith Center at Symphony Park in downtown Las Vegas. The new location provided more space for vendors, music, staging, parking and keeping livestock.

The gates open at 5 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 8 p.m.

Rodeo Queen Cristian Auer, Diamond L Arena owner Todd Goodwin and their dog, Rico, spent the morning walking around the grounds making sure everything was ready and all the cattle were in line for the event on Friday night.

The Whiskerino Contest begins at 6 p.m. at the Pullman Grille at Main Street Station.

The five-day rodeo has been an annual event in Las Vegas since 1934.
