IRS seeks volunteers to provide tax preparation aid

The Internal Revenue Service is looking for volunteers to assist in preparing tax returns at various sites throughout Nevada.

All volunteers receive tax training in cooperation with community partners and the IRS, according to an agency spokesman. The IRS is looking for individuals with good computer skills to assist in preparing and transmitting returns electronically.

"Volunteer Income Tax Assistance provides a great service for eligible lower-income taxpayers to get free tax preparation during the tax filing season," IRS spokesman Raphael Tulino said.

Training is held in January and volunteers generally study online with Link & Learn Taxes to obtain their volunteer certification. For more information, visit www.irs.gov. Contact reporter Chris Sieroty at csieroty@reviewjournal.com or 702-477-3893.
