Kidnapped Henderson girl found safe in California

A 7-year-old Henderson girl who was kidnapped early Saturday by a family acquaintance was dropped off in Barstow, Calif. and found safe shortly after the Henderson Police Department issued an Amber Alert on Saturday afternoon.

Henderson detectives said Kayla Proctor was last seen at 4 a.m. at the Allegro Apartments at 951 Las Palmas Entrada Avenue in Henderson.

Police are searching for Matthew Hayward, a 29-year-old man who also stayed at the apartment and who disappeared with Kayla.

After she was dropped off in Barstow, Kayla was spotted by police officers.

Henderson Police spokesman Todd Rasmussen said police believe there might be a second victim in the incident, but emphasized that the second victim is not a child.

He said he could not elaborate.

"We just don't know all the details," he said.
