Las Vegas motorcycle officer injured in accident

A Las Vegas police motorcycle officer was taken to University Medical Center Tuesday morning after a collision with another vehicle.

Police said the accident happened shortly after 8 a.m. near McLeod Street and St. Louis Avenue, east of downtown.

A 2006 Toyota Corolla driven by Guadalupe Acosta, 57, collided with the motorcycle officer as she was making a left turn onto McLeod from St. Louis. The 43-year-old officer, whose name was not immediately released, was traveling east on St. Louis.

The officer's had moderate injuries, police said.

The accident remains under investigation.
