Las Vegas police officer hurt in motorcycle crash

A Metro police officer was hospitalized with what the police department described as non-life threatening injuries after a collision near downtown Las Vegas Monday afternoon.

The officer, who was on a department-issued motorcycle, collided with another vehicle near Charleston Boulevard and 11th Street just after 12:30 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said.

The officer, whom police did not identify, was taken to University Medical Center , Meltzer said.

The crash is still under investigation, Metlzer said.
