Lightning strike begins Red Rock blaze

A 15-acre wildfire ignited after a lightning strike Thursday afternoon in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
The blaze, dubbed the Pass Fire, began about 3 p.m. about one mile south of state Route 160, mile marker 15. About 80 personnel worked to extinguish the blaze, which was successfully contained late Thursday.
The equipment used included two single-engine air tankers and five firetrucks. No structures were threatened.
