Main post office reopens after gas smell prompts evacuation

The main Las Vegas post office was evacuated briefly Thursday morning because of a suspicious odor, fire officials said.

The office is at 1001 E. Sunset Road near Paradise Road. Clark County firefighters were called to the scene about 11 a.m.

At noon, officials said the evacuation was prompted when workers smelled gas and one employee became nauseated, but the building was checked and no problems were found.
