Man hospitalized after mattress fire at Bally’s

A man was hospitalized after a mattress caught fire Sunday afternoon in a Bally's hotel room on the 25th floor, a Clark County official said.

County spokesman Dan Kulin said firefighters were alerted to the blaze at the Strip resort about 2:40 p.m. The fire was extinguished by 3:15 p.m. and was limited to one room.

Kulin said the man, whose name was not released, was transported to an area hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Kulin said it's procedure for the involved floor and the floors above and below to be evacuated in such a situation.

Kulin said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
