Man recovered from Lake Mead identified

The man found dead in Lake Mead almost 24 hours after he disappeared in the water near Callville Bay was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office Tuesday.

Curtis James Ficarrotta, 30, from Las Vegas disappeared about noon Sunday and was found by search and rescue teams about 11 a.m. Monday.

He was swimming with friends in a cove without a life jacket when he began struggling, according to officials at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

His cause of death is still pending. Officials believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

Another swimmer from Chicago disappeared last Thursday in Boulder Basin and has yet to be found.

Search teams are still scanning the water looking for 35-year-old Istvan Tibor Feichtner.
