Updated December 3, 2018 - 8:43 pm

A 17-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured after a crash Monday afternoon in the southwest valley, Las Vegas police said.

The teenage boy, riding a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle, crashed with a 2012 Toyota Highlander about 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of South Hualapai Way and West Russell Road, police said. Prior to the crash, the boy was headed north on Hualapai while the Toyota was headed south. The Toyota was turning left onto Russell when the motorcycle hit the front of the Toyota.

The boy was tossed from the Yamaha and hospitalized at University Medical Center in critical condition, a Metropolitan Police Department release said. The 52-year-old driving the Toyota remained at the scene.

Neither the rider nor driver were impaired, police said.
