A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday after a collision with a pickup, Las Vegas police said.

Police said the motorcyclist, who was not identified, was traveling north on Valley View Boulevard near El Camino Avenue at about 6:15 p.m.

Police said a Ford F-150 truck, driven by Jeffery Vaughn, 56, of Las Vegas, was at a stop sign heading west on El Camino when he pulled into the Valley View intersection. The motorcyclist struck the rear tow hitch of the truck.

The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

This was the 13th fatal accident in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year. The accident remains under investigation.
