Motorcyclist dies after crash at Lake Mead

A 22-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday morning at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, the National Park Service said.

His identity was not released.

The Park Service said at 9:19 a.m. it received an emergency call of a motorcyclist down. The man was found 75 feet off the Callville Bay Access Road, about 25 miles north of Boulder City.

He was found down an embankment. Rangers attempted to save him by performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later, the Park Service said. According to preliminary information, speed appears to have played a role in the crash.
