A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Friday in a crash east of the Arts District in downtown Las Vegas.
Just before 1:55 a.m., the motorcyclist was heading north on South Maryland Parkway on a 2007 Yamaha R1 when he lost control at a curve in the road, striking several cement barriers near Franklin Avenue, just south of East Charleston Boulevard, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, marking the 65th traffic fatality investigated this year by the department.
He will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office after his family has been notified of the death.
Northbound lanes of Maryland were shut down for at least seven hours during the investigation, which was ongoing as of late Friday morning, according to Metro.
