Motorcyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in crash on Bonanza

Updated August 29, 2022 - 9:41 am

An early-morning crash Monday in east Las Vegas has left a motorcyclist in critical condition.

Las Vegas police said officers responded to a crash at 1:55 a.m. involving a motorcycle and an SUV at Bonanza and Pecos roads. The motorcyclist, a 41-year-old North Las Vegas man, was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said in a news release that the motorcyclist was driving a 2008 Suzuki GSX-R west on Bonanza Road at “an excessive speed” when the motorcycle slammed into the back of a 2014 Audi Q5 also headed west on Bonanza. A 22-year-old Las Vegas woman who was driving the Audi remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment, police said.

Police detectives responsible for investigating fatal crashes responded to the scene. Bonanza was closed from Sandhill Road to Blue Lagoon Drive because of vehicles and debris in the roadway. The road was reopened just before 8 a.m.
