Children treated for flu-like symptoms at the Rio

Fire officials said 18 people, including 13 children from a youth football team from Santa Monica, Calif., were transported from the Rio to area hospitals Friday morning after experiencing flu-like symptoms. The children ranged in age from 7 to 9. About 20 children were being treated for flu-like symptoms at the Rio Friday morning.

Pulse of creativity: Heart art exhibit raises funds for St. Jude

Heart art is making its way across the Las Vegas Valley, and its latest stop is the JW Marriott and Rampart Casino, 221 N. Rampart Blvd. The Traveling Hearts of Las Vegas exhibit brings culture to the suburbs, but it has a more altruistic motive: The heart sculptures are auctioned off with the proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
