The Hispanic International Parade of Nevada Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to showcasing the strength and diversity of the Hispanic community, which is composed of 21 countries and cultures. Through its 12th annual Hispanic International Parade, the organization plans to give the community a feel of Hispanic culture while honoring returning service members.
In your (Sept. 9 Las Vegas Review-Journal) article titled “To best traverse life’s road, we need to travel together,” you hit on an area very close to my past. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought you had lived in a parallel universe beside my own. Commonly labeled a pathologically, psychotic, needy, nut job by my former husband, my life didn’t take the drastic turnaround it did until I met that “partner who fulfills our intrinsic attachment needs and feels comfortable acting as a secure base and safe haven.”
The words almost didn’t make it out of Rebecca Shanahan’s mouth – stuck somewhere in her throat as she remembered her loved ones who died from pancreatic cancer. “A year ago today, my best friend died of pancreatic cancer,” Shanahan said. “Ten days before she died, my father was diagnosed. In March, my father lost his battle. I share your grief.”
With the arrival of fall comes one of the area’s most eagerly awaited events, the Summerlin Art Festival, planned for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Summerlin Centre Community Park, 1800 S. Town Center Drive.
