The new state museum at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve has been in limbo for several years. There was enough money to finish the $50 million building, expected to become the state’s flagship museum. But if Gov. Brian Sandoval has his way, it won’t happen this year. Or even next year.

Due to a grab bag of factors, McCarran International Airport finished the year with a slight drop in passenger traffic.
It’s 3 a.m. Thursday and noisy because of the trucks roaring by on the freeway. The homeless who live here are used to this and sleep right through. Most also are unaware that they have company: three homeless “guides” and a beat cop, have been sent to count them.
