Sometimes, fights over free expression involve rights of assembly or school prayer. And sometimes the issues are harps, Hula-Hoops and talking parrots. Those were some points discussed Tuesday as Las Vegas officials pondered an ordinance that might end years of litigation over what is allowed under the Fremont Street Experience’s giant video screen.

For the first time, a Miss Nebraska was crowned Miss America on Saturday night at Planet Hollywood. Teresa Scanlan, 17, received the customary crown and roses from the outgoing Miss America, Caressa Cameron. She also won a $50,000 scholarship.
